G O L D E N S O C K P A T T E R N

and Hello Socktober! One of the best months of the year has just begun! The days are getting colder, the sunrises later and the sunsets more golden. GOLDEN autumn is here! During this time I feel like spicy pumpkin soup, aromatic herbal teas that I collected in summer, Agatha Christie crime novels and warm socks. When it's still a bit autumnal cold and raining outside and I can light candles ... Huh! Born as a winter child, I am an autumn child at heart.

G O L D E N S O C K S For this year's October I wanted to write a knitting pattern that would paint the golden October in stitches for us. After the Cozy Weekend Socks in September, which tells the story of the end of summer, make cooler temperatures more comfortable and bring adventure and hiking back, I was in the mood for a nice colorwork pattern. I associate it with comfort and preparation for the cold days.

And please: How nice is it to draw stories into our knits with yarn?

GOLDEN draws the rays of the low sun in our socks, the glittering points of light in puddles and between autumn leaves. Golden is knitting autumn in its most beautiful time before November completely shows us the way into winter.

Multi-colored knitting has always been a technique that I admired from afar. For years I have sneaked around it and admired the wonderful works of talented knitters. Except for my Spread the Love Socks, I haven't really knitted a lot of colorwork yet. I was just too frustrated from previous attempts when it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to.

But not this fall. One fine late afternoon, I had just finished working on the instructions for my T&B Collection Beanie for test knitting and forwarded them to my test creasers. It just flowed from my fingers. That same evening I cast on the stitches and began to knit my pattern.

Quite contrary to my expectations, it knitted itself easily and simply and practically by itself next to an audio book. Already the next morning I had a half-finished sock in front of me. Not blocked and not quite in shape, but oh my god! I loved the pattern right away ♡!

It got easier with every round.

Can you see it? On the left the socks that have meanwhile been washed and blocked, on the right the second in progress. The varied, but not too complicated pattern - no distance is greater than 3 sts - the two colors are wonderfully easy to knit.

My thread tension got visibly better: The cuff is still a bit bumpy, but the pattern becomes more even with each round.

Do you see the little glittering rays of sunshine at the end of the leg? We draw one last greeting from late summer before autumn finally arrives.

Colorwork knitting has never been so easy!

And if I could do it, so can you.

Which colors would you choose? Which variants knit? Ah! I am sooo excited!
